Update

It's been an interesting first quarter to 2021 to say the least. I wouldn't have imagined I'd have been knee deep in writing classic atmospheric drum & bass for the first time in however many years for a start, but it's been absolutely amazing getting wrapped up in this vibe again.
My first exposure to electronic music that really gripped me was via 808 State's 90 album, which featured the classic Pacific State, and also a compilation of Art Of Noise remixes called The FON Mixes. This led me to discover early hardcore, which then led into jungle and early drum & bass. It wasn't until I first heard Bukem DJ'ing atmospheric dnb (or intelligent dnb as it was unfortunately also named back then), that made me fall in love with a form of music. I'd finally found something that truly resonated with me 100%, not just 99%. This was MY music, and I've always stayed true to that claim over the years. There was, and still is, something uniquely special about the music made during the mid to late 90's, and it's the music I identify with the most.

So story time aside, 25 years later, and I decided to write the type of music that influenced me the most, but to be able to do it justice with over two decades worth of production experience, a proper studio, but still with the same passion I had for it all those years ago. By now, you'll have no doubt heard the Ideasthesia EP released on Veil, and the new remix of G-Force's Proximity that recently came out on Okbron, but I'm happy to tell you there's more on the way.

What's next then? Well, that would be my debut for Over/Shadow. If you've been living under a rock, and haven't heard about Over/Shadow, then here's a quick recap: 2 Bad Mice (Simon Colebrooke and Sean O'Keeffe AKA Deep Blue) were integral members of Moving Shadow. Moving Shadow ceased operations many years back, and before that, Simon and Sean parted ways with Rob Playford to launch Partisan. Talks were held to bring back Moving Shadow, but the outcome was that Simon and Sean would resurrect the spirit of the label in the guise of Over/Shadow. The first three release are out now from Moving Shadow stalwarts Blame (001), Dom & Roland (002), and DJ Trax (003). My release consists of two tracks - Slow Down / Lucid Dream - and is forthcoming on OSH004. No release date as of yet, but it will be imminent.

You can hear both of these tracks in the Atmoteka 84 mix I did at the end of last year. Slow Down is at 51 minutes in to the mix, and Lucid Dream is near the end at around about 1hr 35. This will most likely be the next release in this style. There are a few other releases in the pipeline for the atmospheric drum & bass fans amongst you, but I can't say too much just yet, as it would ruin the surprise.

Quick recap on the 'entropic trilogy'. All three parts are out now on vinyl and selling fast.
Part 1 - An Exact Science. Samurai have just repressed it for the second time, and this is available now: https://asc77.bandcamp.com/album/an-exact-science
Part 2 - Isolated Systems (LP). This is completely sold out, but there is a repress planned. No ETA yet. Digital still available obviously: https://asc77.bandcamp.com/album/isolated-systems
Part 3 - An Increase In Entropy was released earlier this month on the 2nd. The limited edition red splatter vinyl sold out instantly, but there are small numbers of the black vinyl remaining at the time of writing this. https://asc77.bandcamp.com/album/an-increase-in-entropy

Yesterday saw the release of my second album under the Comit guise. 'An Ocean Of Thoughts' is very much a continuation from where 'Remote Viewing' left off. Not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything - just mainly slower IDM vibes with a rich colourful sonic palette and plenty of brooding melodies. Have a listen and perhaps bag yourself a copy of the amazing looking/sounding vinyl from A Strangely Isolated Place here: https://astrangelyisolatedplace.bandcamp.com/album/an-ocean-of-thoughts

Last week also saw the release of lovely 10" of techno for Detroit based Modern Cathedrals. The 10" features two tracks (Traction / Triton) and there's two extra tracks (Gaussian Function / Fornax) available as part of the digital release. Have a listen/buy here: https://moderncathedrals.bandcamp.com/album/sacred-sevens-iii

If you made it this far, then thank you for your attention. I really should make more regular updates and then I wouldn't have to bombard you with a wall of text every time like this, but oh well! Thanks again for everyone supporting my music. It's been invaluable during this seemingly never-ending COVID-19 crisis, and I'm truly grateful for people still buying music throughout this last year or so.

Until next time,
Peace out, ASC
